An artist searching for the true color of life

From her earliest years, Solin has embodied the search for freedom

and the expression of love.

She has made her life a work of love and art. As a young girl of 14 years,

She presented her first collection of paintings.

Solin was born in 1995 in Duhok city,

Her youth was spent in Iraqi Kurdistan but included study in western schools

and a stint in Germany.

She graduated from the University of Duhok with a bachelor's of spatial planning in 2018.

She was exposed to a wide range of cultural influences absorbing the best of western and Kurdish culture. Her childhood memories ranged from bucolic picnics by mountain streams surrounded by family and friends, to the struggle against extremism during the ISIS invasion.

Solin continued to paint and to sing and to write throughout her college years.

Some of her works from this period are on display at the Iraqi Museum of Women’s Art and the Duhok Art Gallery.

In 2020 she entered television journalism under the name Solina Eve after a long path in art and human rights activities.

Solin used her media platform to advocate for women’s rights and to fight against

gender-based violence. She was also active in preserving the cultural heritage of her native Kurdistan.

One of several cultural projects in which Solin was involved was the project to planning

Amedy City—a joint project of the World Monuments Fund, the University of Duhok, and the British Council.

In late 2020 she was imprisoned for six months for publicly exposing a sexual predator. Solin

refused to be silenced. She continued raising her voice against corruption and injustice in Iraq by

the social media campaign "#evefreedom"

In September 2021 she left Iraq for Jordan with the help of an international organization

that assists those facing persecution for exposing truth.

Solin continued her artistic growth after moving to Amman, Jordan. Some of her works from this period are on display at the residence of the Duke of Mukheibeh, Mamdouh Bisharat. In Amman she also continued producing audio and video works to include collaboration with Jordanian artists and musicians.

Solin’s time in Jordan was spent exploring—and contributing—to its rich culture.

In February 2023 she was granted political asylum in France and moved to Paris.

Solin became active with the Maison des Journalists in December 2023.
